Hi,

4.6V – 1.8 V is enough to connect a wireless mouse to the PC. In this case, the energy production wont be problem, however, the weight of the mouse can cause usability problem in terms of ergonomics and so on. The mouse has a rechargeable battery that can be charged by winding action. The technological problems can be solve easily. You can find some winding lamps that you wind one minute and gives 40 min. light.

In my opinion, user decisions from buying to using are the main problem of these kind of products. The products that we are using shapes our behaviors and lifestyles ;therefore, companies need to find ways to change consumerism behavior in an alternative( funny, seduce.. etc..) way. This must be the core point of the philosophy of sustainable products because changing a habit is not so easy. The situation can be described as an addicted person who wants to quit the addicted thing. We used to live in a world which we always believed that resources are enough to consume more with closed eyes but it is not. It was an illusion…

There can be also mouse that can be charged with scroll wheel. I believe that it can also not a big problem from the technological aspect. However, the effect of a mouse that is charging with scroll mouse, is going to be totally different from a mouse that you HAVE to do something before usage. It will be just a solution to reduce the energy consumption of mouse which is not going to teach something to user. It can be dictation but i want to define it as a lovely forcing action.. :)

The main problem is not if it can not be built or not the question is if you want to use it..

Wäre es nicht eine viel bessere Idee, wenn man direkt die Mausbewegungen mittels eines Schwungrades dafür nutzt – bei einigen Armbanduhren soll das meines Wissens nach recht zuverlässig funktionieren. In dieser Form ist das leider nur ein unbrauchbarer Ansatz, der sich wohl kaum durchsetzen kann und den ein oder anderen vor der Gebrauch alternativer Energien durch eine derartige Unhandlichkeit ehr abschreckt.

Das Konzept greift weder auf die naheliegenste Energiequelle zu, noch spart der Nutzer etwas ein, wenn beim Aufziehen ein 200 Watt-Rechner (eine optische Maus hat mit 2 AA-Akkus gerade mal ~5Wattstunden) ungenutzt weiterläuft. Diese Maus ist daher ehr als Kuriosität aufzufassen.

am besten zwei Mäuse anschaffen. Dann ist eine immer aufgezogen.

@ Ahmet: You’re welcome. In case you read this: How does the Mouse work? Via rechargeable batteries or do you wind up some sort of other device? And: Is it an “official” Logitech mouse?

Ich denke man gewöhnt sich schnell daran, morgens mit dem ersten Kaffee die Maus aufzuziehen, so dass während der Arbeit kein Strommangel entsteht.

Also die Idee ist wirklich pfiffig. Allerdings sollten meiner Ansicht nach manuell aufladbare Akkus nur dort eingestzt werden, wo sie Batterien oder elektrisch aufladbare Akkus erstzten können. In Taschenlampen zum Beispiel. Denn Akkus sind Sondermüll.
