Zwei US-Senatoren haben jetzt eine weitere Gesetzesinitiative gegen unerlaubte Handy-Werbung gestartet. Sie wollen der Federal Communications Commission und der Federal Trade Commission mehr Rechte zugestehen, um künftig effektiver gegen mobilen Spam vorgehen zu können. Zudem sollen kommerzielle Werbe-Kurznachrichten an Handy-Rufnummern blockiert werden, wenn diese im nationalen „Do-Not-Call“-Verzeichnis eingetragen sind.
„Mobile spam invades both a consumer’s cell phone and monthly bill,“ said Sen. Snowe, in a statement. „There is also increasing concern that mobile spam will become more than just an annoyance – the viruses and malicious spyware that are often attached to traditional spam will most likely be more prevalent on wireless devices through m-spam.“
